F-Gas qualified engineer

What is an f-gas qualified engineer?

An f-gas qualification and certification enables air conditioning and refrigeration engineers to meet legal requirements required to work with fluorinated greenhouse gases, known as F-Gases. F-gas regulations are governed by the f-gas register and DEFRA to help EU countries meet Kyoto protocol targets.

If you are recovering, handling, installing, supplying manufacturing, servicing maintaining or own equipment containing HFC refrigerants in stationary equipment, you must become f-gas qualified and also have the f-gas certification following EU legislation. It is a legal requirement for engineers working in the United Kingdom to be f-gas certified and f-gas qualified. Our City & Guilds 2079 level 2, category 1 qualification is valid in all EU countries.

The F-Gas Register is a register for f-gas qualified persons and is appointed by the secretary of state for the environment, food & rural affairs (DEFRA) to operate an F-Gas Certification body under the stationary equipment provisions of fluorinated greenhouse gases regulations.
